KADE
Marjorie Matheson Kade, 93, died at home on Wednesday February 11, 2015 surrounded by her children.
The daughter of Martin Hylan Matheson and Mary Bevilacqua Matheson, Marge was born in Chicago in 1921. The family moved to Texas during the Depression before returning to Chicago. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she majored in German and chemistry, served as the first woman president of the student senate and was a proud Tri-Delt.
She was recruited by Charles (Jim) F. Kade, Jr. to work in his lab at Frederick Sterns in Detroit. After a secret courtship, they were married in June 1946 and shortly thereafter moved to Albany and then to Philadelphia where they raised six children.
Marge was an excellent cook, active in Outdoor Gardeners, served as a docent at the Morris Arboretum and worked as a judge of elections in Montgomery County.
In 1996, she and Jim moved to Williamsburg, Virginia. Jim died in 2000, and Marge remained in Williamsburg until she moved to Cincinnati in 2013. She enjoyed travel with her husband and children and visited all seven continents.
She is remembered for her wonderful smile, her love of life and her many wonderful stories. She is survived by her six children, Kristina Kade Troost, Roslyn Kade, Heidi Kade Wells, Charles Frederick Kade, III, Charlotte Kade Crow and James Martin Kade, 2 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, seventeen grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263-3597.
A celebration of life will be held at 4341 Ashley Meadow Ct., Cincinnati from 6 to 9 pm, Saturday, February 14.

Couple Makes Trip To West
Charles F. Kade, Jr., of Sheboygan, and his bride, the former Miss Marjorie Louise Matheson of Chicago, are en route to the west coast for an extended wedding trip.
Their marriage at 1 o’clock Saturday afternoon was read by the Rev. Wilford H. Evans, Sheboygan, in Howe Memorial chapel of Northwestern University campus in Evanston, and was attended by a number of Sheboygan persons, including the bridegroom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Kade, 1413 Main avenue.
Mrs. John T. Hoppe, the bride’s sister, was her matron of honor. A University of Illinois classmate of the bridegroom, Richard Kenyon of Chicago, had the best man’s responsibilities. Brothers of the couple, Marple, Martin Matheson and John Kade, ushered the guests.
The bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Matheson, entertained 100 guests at a wedding reception which was held at the Edgewater Beach hotel in Chicago.
Others from Sheboygan present were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Kade and Jean, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kade, Raymond Kade, Arthur Kade and son, Walton, and Miss Kathryn Kade.
When the recently wedded couple return from the western tour, they will be living in Detroit, Mich., and will be at home there after July 15. The former Miss Matheson was graduated from the University of Illinois, from where the bridegroom has his Ph.D. He previously received his diploma from Carleton College. Mrs. Kade is a Delta Delta Delta. |
