  		Thelma Kay Pattison, nee Fisher (1933-2013) - Obituary (Statesman Journal, Salem, Oregon, Wednesday, May 15, 2013) Thelma "Kay" Pattison November 10, 1933 - May 14, 2013 KEIZER - Thelma Kay Pattison passed away at her home in Keizer on May 14, 2013 at the age of 79. Kay was born and raised in Pacific Grove CA. She was an outstanding student and valedictorian of her high school class. Kay forfeited a full scholarship to Stanford University to wed Walter Pattison in 1952. She later received her BA from San Jose State College. As a young woman, Kay committed her life to serving Jesus Christ. Kay and Walter raised 7 children. They were both teachers, eventually moving in 1970 to Sixes Oregon where they purchased a dairy farm. In 1976 they felt led by the Lord to serve as missionaries in Africa. They served three years as teachers in Zambia and eight years in Kenya introducing the gospel and establishing churches amongst the Maasai. After returning home Walt and Kay served as pastors in churches in Waldport, Oregon and Wallins, Kentucky. In 1993 Kay and Walt moved to Salem where they both taught at Salem Academy. After a stroke in December, 1998 Kay retired. Kay was well known for her quick wit and humor. She enjoyed reading. Kay was a faithful and loving wife for over 61 years and a caring, doting mother. She was grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 12. Kay gave thanks to God for a successful marriage and wonderfully blessed family. Kay is survived by husband, Walter, and children Deborah Davies, Stephen, John, James, Lynn, Bunny and Mike Walsh. Services will be held at First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Market St. NE Salem OR on Friday May 17 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Missions Department of First Church of the Nazarene.
