Magasin / Avisoppslag		Arthur Green (1937-1992) - Arthur Wins Harvestime Award (Buffels News, 1987) Arthur Wins Harvestime Award Arthur Green, Senior Catering Manager has been awarded the 1987 Harvestime Circle of Quality Award. He was awarded this honour for outstanding achievement and contributions to the South African Catering industry on the whole. The awards took place at a special function which was held in the Santon Sun in Johannesburg during September. Arthur originally comes from England where he completed a five year apprenticeship at the Hotel and Catering School. He qualified there as a chef before coming to South Africa where he furthered his studies in the field of Management. He eventually decided that industrial catering offered the biggest challenge and joined the South African Defence Force. He came to Buffels in 1980 where he spends much of his time in upgrading kitchens and the quality of food for the hostel inmates on the mines. "We handle up to 650 tons of food and serve some 450 000 main meals per month on a 24 hour basis. That excludes some 150 000 intermediate meals we also cater for" he said during the interview. "If that is not a challenge to any catering manager, then I don't know what is" he concluded.
