  Minneord / Nekrolog	Obituary Sonny Kupczyewski passed away on Wednesday May 4th while at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was 75 years of age. Born and raised in Chelsea, he was a beloved son of the late Theodore Kupczyewski, the late Mary (Flammia) Delorey and George Delorey. Sonny grew up in Chelsea and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. He enlisted into the US Army in1966 and served with combat forces in Vietnam. Following wounds received in action he was honorably discharged in 1968. He was awarded a Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars for his heroism. He returned to civilian life in Chelsea. A 100% disabled Veteran he still went on to work in the building construction and demolition fields as a heavy equipment operator. He retired from this field 25 years ago. He was a lifelong resident of Chelsea and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a former member of the Beachmont VFW and the Chelsea Irish Club. Throughout his life he remained a Big-Kid at heart and enjoyed watching football and episodes of Star Trek. In addition to his parents, in 2019 he was predeceased by his longtime and loving companion of 40 years, Karen (Hanson) Gallenski. He was the Devoted father of Mark J. Kupczyewski of Revere and East Boston. He was a most loyal friend of Mark Lee of Malden. Beloved stepdad of Carrie Leone and the late Jodi Gallenski & step-granddad of Samantha Salvage, John Leone and Nicholas Leone. Dear brother-in-love of Maureen Brewster of Princeton. He is also survived by his cherished canine fur baby "Precious" whom he always called “Pooch!”. ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to gather at the Welsh Funeral Home, 718 Broadway, Chelsea on Monday May 9th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM before proceeding to Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett for graveside services and military honors.
