  	Torsten Andreas Matheson (1947-2012) - Obituary Tor Matheson died at his Jacks Peak home on Friday, January 27 in the presence of his family. He was an immense presence on the Peninsula known for his booming voice, obscure inside jokes, blue humor and ferocious workouts at his beloved Pacheco Club. His loss leaves a void in the daily lives of many who came to enjoy his company, his eccentricities, the knowing and mischievous twinkle in his eye. Tor was the consummate self-made man of action, always moving and striving toward new goals and objectives. His restless spirit found natural expression as a young man on the athletic field. An All-American, rose Bowl Champion and UCLA Player of the Year, he thrived as an undersized left offensive tackle known for his legendary toughness and a fearsome competitive streak. It was also during this time that director Robert Altman recruited Tor to play a benched football player in the original movie “Mash”, in which he infamously smoked a marijuana joint on screen; a first in mainstream film. Tor’s Scandinavian grandparents first came to the Monterey Peninsula in 1921, and in the late 1970s Tor returned here to raise a family, teach real estate and eventually found the Credit Interlink family of companies. In 2000 he partnered with Old Republic Title, creating Old Republic Credit SErvices, now a leading provider of consumer lending software products to community banks and mid-sized mortgage lenders throughout North America. In recent years he and his wife enjoyed acquiring and maintaining the Casa Boronda Adobe in Monterey. Most of all, Tor loved raising his own all natural honey in the hills above the Bay. In the bees Tor saw himself; determined, tenacious, productive, unrelenting. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jana-Louisa, sons Blake (Erika) and Taylor (Alexandra), and his mother Kathryne. We, his family, wish him well on his journey home to his Ancestors. It is “a homegoing to a place East of the Sun, West of the Moon- the homegoing that needs no home, like a waterfall that turns to mist before touching the earth and rises again into the sky.” (Peter Matthiessen) Hail and farewell.
